Teaching “Men” to respect women

A friend of mine posted a link to this video on Facebook.

I watched the full 10 minutes – and I agree wholeheartedly with the speakers message.

Men need to learn that women are not objects, to be “owned”, ordered around and abused.

Men need to learn that true character and strength come from showing emotion and from loving unconditionally.

That “taking” is far less powerful than “receiving”.

Let all men be taught to live outside the “Manbox”.

May take a while to start playing >> it’s buffering in the background.

Take the time to watch this please – and pass it on – Men all over the world need to hear this message.

A world without food and water security is one without hope.

Today I watched a video of Dan Barber (a Chef and Scholar) about his “love affair” with a fish!

You truly need to take the 20 minutes to watch this video and ponder the implications of his words… and to Miguel… Well Done!

You and Dan deserve the highest praise!

To the worlds politicians – if you are more focused on retaining your power and getting the vote than you are on the future of your peoples and the planet we depend upon, shame on you!

Do the right thing!

Your kids are just as much at risk as the rest of us!

Wake up for goodness sakes!

Hurricane Tomas, play nicely with the Caribbean.

I see poor Haiti is being battered again by another Hurricane. I know they live in an area where tropical storms strike regularly, but eish… enough is enough.

One of the last reports I heard is that a certain strain of cholera is now present in Haiti – and the strain has apparently been identified as one that comes from the East – somewhere around Mongolia if memory serves. This has led to speculation that health worker volunteers were actually responsible for bringing cholera to this disaster-struck country.
Talk about adding insult to injury.
Boy am I glad that I don't have to suffer as those poor folk have done and continue to do.

Losing my “tech” training wheels.

Like most kids my first proper bicycle had training wheels for stability. As I grew in confidence so I became less and less reliant on those training wheels!

Getting to grips with all this internet and website technology feels much the same. In the beginning things seem much bigger and more daunting than they are.

So I i’m hoping that as my web experiments get bigger and bolder I will be able to leave my training wheels behind and I can become a full Netizen soon!

Until next time!

Posting via eMail is cool!

This is my first web post that I have sent via email to my blog. What this means is that this post appears although I didn’t log into my control panel, but rather sent my site an email (this email) and it went ahead and posted it for me!

How cool is that?

Self Defense Discussion on National Television

A Self Protection and Self Defense discussion with Dieter from Tactical Advantage.

I was interviewed by local talk show host Noeleen on her National show, 3 Talk. It was a candid discussion about crime in South Africa and what steps ordinary people can take to make them selves just a wee bit safer.

Enjoy!

President Obama’s slide in the Polls

Watching SkyNews tonight I am surpised by how much ground President Obama has lost in 2 short years.

If I were an American I would generally vote Republican – except in the last elections. Firstly the Republican Candidate was, as far as I’m concerned, just short of being the village idiot!

I don’t mean that he was stupid, just that he didn’t appear to have a meaningful agenda and seemed hell bent on continuing the disasterous policies of the outgoing President, George W Bush.

In comparison, Barack Obama was like a breath of fresh air – straight talking, topical and seemingly in touch with the needs of the USA and the planet as a whole. For this reason alone I would have made my mark in his favour.Barack Obama waves to a crowd

Now I think he is getting the raw end of the deal. I don’t for a minute believe in every decision he has made, but lets give the man a chance – you cannot bring about change on such a massive scale in such a short time – certainly not given all the challenges ito the economy, the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan (let me not get into a debate about whether they should have been at war there or not…), joblessness, security from terrorism etc.

I feel for you President Obama – you have had tough decisions to make, and these won’t get any easier in the days ahead, but stay the course and let history judge you.

To the Americans – give the man a fair chance.

Medical Aid Increases

OMG! I just received an email from my Medical Aid telling me about the latest increases to the 2011 tariff.Rising costs of Medical Aid

Let’s be honest, I’m grateful that I am fortunate enough to be able to have a Medical Aid (many don’t and have to rely on well below-par Government services)… but yikes!

Over R 2500 per month for a single person! That’s kinda excessive if you ask me… and it always feels like you pay more and get less. Less benefits, more paperwork and more declined claims.

Ho hum… gonna start having to think about alternatives soon… and no, Governments mooted National Health Insurance is NOT the answer.

Medical Aid costs just keep rising
